Political Science and International Relations graduate, Tiani Dunn, landed her dream job at The Department of Justice shortly after completing her studies at UWA.

As a Project Support Officer in the Reconciliation Team at The Department of Justice, Tiani assists with the implementation of the Reconciliation Action Plan across business areas in the Department.

Here at The Department of Justice, advancing reconciliation is everybody’s business. - Tiani Dunn

A Banjima and Nyiyaparli Traditional Owner, Tiani has connection to many Traditional Owner Groups across the Pilbara Region.

The important and rewarding reconciliation policy work allows Tiani to connect with a broad range of people and make steps towards reconciliation through education programs and resources.

Growing up in Tom Price, Tiani moved to Perth for high school attending St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls where she discovered a passion for Politics and Law.

I had a really great teacher who inspired me to go to university which I hadn’t thought was possible.

Hard work, dedication and hours of study paid off for Tiani, enrolling in a Bachelor of Arts, a decision that set her on the path to where she is today.

“My experience at UWA was amazing, I loved school so going to a beautiful campus every single day and getting the opportunity to learn and expose myself to all these different areas - I wouldn’t have had the chance to if I didn’t go to high school and get that passion to go to university.”

“The UWA School of Indigenous Studies was a great resource while I was at university. It gave me a great community to be a part of, support during my studies and every chance to get the best out of myself."

One piece of advice Tiani has for those thinking about university is, “say yes to every opportunity. It’s led to this really great workplace where I get a lot of opportunities and I’m very grateful for them. I definitely have my dream job.”
