Understanding the epidemiology of cardiovascular disease is essential for effective implementation of prevention and disease management programs in Australia.

Dr Lee Nedkoff

 

Dr Lee Nedkoff is a cardiovascular epidemiologist and senior member of the Cardiovascular Research Group in the School of Population and Global Health at UWA. Her research centres on coronary heart disease and stroke epidemiology, with a focus on developing methods for population-level disease monitoring and identifying population groups where adverse trends are present.

Dr Nedkoff has considerable expertise in the use of linked electronic health data, both in Australia and in international settings, for addressing these research questions. She currently leads a National Health and Medical Research Council funded project, in collaboration with the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, which will develop a new algorithm for monitoring heart attacks and coronary heart disease in Australia.

Current research taken under her leadership also includes investigating why heart attack rates have increased in younger adults in Australia in the past decade.
