Dr Ian Li

Economics is a way of thinking, and a recognition of scarcity and choice. Dr Ian Li
Dr Ian Li is an economist with research interests in the applied areas of education, labour and health economics, focusing on improving wellbeing and socioeconomic outcomes for the public. Currently, Dr Li’s focus areas include:
- Australian higher education policy, particularly from an equity perspective
- Tackling disadvantage and improving outcomes for children across the lifecycle
- economic analysis in the areas of hearing loss and cardiovascular disease and
- health workforce policy
Dr Li’s research has been published in leading international and Australian journals, and he is a chief investigator on scheme-funded projects, including the National Health and Medical Research Council, WA Health Promotion Foundation Healthyway and the National Centre for Student Equity in Higher Education.
Dr Li was awarded a UWA Vice-Chancellor’s Early Career Investigators Award in 2015 and has been involved in teaching 22 units at UWA since 2008, and has taught across the areas of economics, law and public health. He has received six excellence in teaching awards across three faculties at UWA since 2010, and in 2017, received a national award for Excellence and Innovation in Public Health Teaching from the Council of Academic Public Health Institutions Australia.
