A collective voice for peace, hope and humanity.

A Child of Our Time is a powerful hymn for peace and humanity, brought to life through collaboration between West Australian Opera and the UWA Conservatorium of Music. This moving concert unites emerging student musicians and singers with professional artists, offering mentorship from the state opera company while showcasing the extraordinary talent of the next generation.

Drawing inspiration from Handel’s Messiah and Bach’s Passions, Tippett’s masterpiece speaks to our time, calling for compassion over conflict and understanding over division. At its heart are songs of hope, resilience, and reflection that invite audiences to pause and listen.

Performed on a grand scale with a large chorus and full orchestra, the work delivers an immersive and emotionally charged sound world.

Voices will rise together in a collective call for peace, creating a stirring, unforgettable musical experience that celebrates collaboration and the transformative power of music.
