EVENT CANCELLED: Main Stage | By Other Eyes
By Other Eyes
Due to the rapidly developing COVID-19 situation and advice from the Government and Department of Health, UWA Music concerts and events have been cancelled until further notice.
We are obviously saddened not to be able to share these wonderful events with you, however the safety, health and wellbeing of our students, staff and UWA community will always remain our top priority.
Join us as we discover and acknowledge the contribution and stories of Aboriginal servicemen in a moving and large-scale performance.
By Other Eyes recognises the active service of many Aboriginal men in the two Great Wars and other Australian conflicts, and in particular the injustice and discrimination faced by returned servicemen post war. The themes explored transverse all cultures and ages: a yearning for homeland, our shared love of family and country and the need to belong. Together with Noongar elders, By Other Eyes recognises the past, but firmly advocates for a better shared future.
Performed by a cast of professional and community performers from across WA, with the UWA Conservatorium of Music Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, a 400-voice choir and international opera singers, this will be a night of music and storytelling you won’t forget.
By Other Eyes is a testament to the power of music, song and storytelling as an agent of positive social and cultural change.
