Centre Stage

In 2018 the UWA Conservatorium of Music launched The Irwin Street Collective. This exciting project is led by three of Perth’s most celebrated musicians: Cecilia Sun, Sara Macliver and Shaun Lee-Chen. For many years UWA Music has been involved in the development and advancement of historically-informed performance. With students having access to world-leading mentors such as Sara, Cecilia, Shaun (Concertmaster of the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra) and Suzanne Wijsman, we have produced some of today's most celebrated period performers.

The Irwin Street Collective aims to build on this reputation and enrich the Australian musical community through interaction with leaders in historically-informed performance.  We invite you to join us in 2019 for more exceptional performances and events with world-leaders in the field.

The Irwin Street Collective & Concordia Vocalis

17th-century Italian nuns had no contact with the secular world outside of their convent, yet their fame as composers and performers spread throughout Europe and attracted visitors from far and wide to hear their music. Join us as we present chamber and choral works by Chiara Margarita Cozzolani, Maria Xaveria Perucona, and Sulpitia Cesis.
