Dr Michael Jetter
Started at UWA: 2015
Researcher and Associate Professor interested in understanding what drives terrorism, conflicts, corruption and gender differences
The most important part of my work is the opportunity to investigate important topics about which we don’t know enough yet.Dr Michael Jetter
Dr Michael Jetter is an Associate Professor in the Economics Department at the UWA Business School. Having studied in Heidelberg (Germany) and Memphis (US), Michael began working at the Universidad EAFIT in Medellin (Colombia) in 2011. In 2015, he moved to UWA.
He specialises in political economy and public economics topics, specifically in isolating causal effects when it comes to terrorism, civil conflict and war, gender differences and the media. His research explores important questions that go beyond an academic environment, such as ‘does media coverage of terrorism cause terrorism?’ and ‘are gender differences innate or circumstantial?’
Dr Jetter’s research has featured in media outlets across the globe, including The Guardian, Forbes, BBC, the Neue Zuercher Zeitung, NPR (US), The Drum, The Conversation, ABC News, Teleantioquia Global and The Huffington Post.
