Infrastructure vital to the success of research at The University of Western Australia in a diverse range of disciplines including artificial intelligence, health and the environment has received University funding.

Twelve projects were awarded more than $947,000 by the Rolling Research Infrastructure Fund, which aims to help bridge the funding gap for important infrastructure.

The successful applicants are:

•    Dr Jessica Kretzmann for high throughput cytometry on UWA campus;
•     Associate Professor Wei Liu for critical modernisation of Kaya’s computational support for AI research;
•    Dr Aleksey Sadekov for extending research capabilities through enhancement of UWA centralised sample preparation facilities;
•    Senior scientific officer Emielda Yusiharni to upgrade WA's premier powder XRD facility;
•    Senior scientific officer Mary Lee to upgrade histology services equipment;
•    Senior scientific officer Celeste Wale to upgrade ultra-low temperature freezer infrastructure for sustainability and streamlined sample management;
•    Professor Stephen Moggach for sustainable low temperature single-crystal diffraction;
•    Professor Pauline Grierson to advance water isotope analysis for human, ecological, earth, oceans and environmental research across UWA;
•    Dr Fiona Moggach for high-throughput, automated sample processing for metabolomics;
•    Dr Glenys Collard for Sole stories: yarning about diabetic foot education and foot pressure mapping with Aboriginal people;
