The University of Western Australia’s world-class campus and engineering facilities were on display during a recent Engineering Open Day.
This year, more than 7,000 registrants and their families visited campus to explore courses, research, employability and career pathways, student support services and extracurricular activities.

One of the highlights of the day was the popular Discover Engineering Information Sessions, attended by over 915 prospective students and their families.
Hosted by Head of School Tim Sercombe, the sessions offered an in-depth overview of UWA’s four-year engineering program, including the hands-on learning and practical experiences available to students.
The Engineering Hub on Level 1 of EZONE was buzzing with activity throughout the day where attendees had the chance to meet our academics, current students, and alumni to learn more about engineering courses and career opportunities.
Industry partners, Chevron Australia, GPA Engineering, Rio Tinto, Strategen JBS&G and Tutman Risk Engineering, and our peak governing bodies, Engineers Australia and IChemE, were on-site to speak directly with prospective students and their families about life in the field.

UWA’s Girls+ in Engineering program featured, with exhibits supported by industry representatives from Rio Tinto, and student clubs were well represented across EZONE and the engineering building.
University Engineers’ Club, UWA Motorsport Team, SPE UWA, UWA Makers, UWA Robotics Club, Electrical and Electronic Engineers of WA, Coders for Causes, IEEE, and UWA Aerospace all showcased the exciting world of STEM and Engineering at UWA.
In addition to Open Day, the School also connected with prospective students and their families at a STEM Open Night.
A total of 245 people attended, with data indicating that 56 per cent were interested in learning more about or studying Engineering at UWA.
Thank you to all representatives from IChemE and recent alumni from each specialisation who were in attendance, all staff and student volunteers who helped promote Engineering and UWA and to Fortescue, Goldfields, Lendlease and Rio Tinto for their ongoing support.
