The annual UWA Blues Awards, held on Thursday 13 November at the Neil Donaldson Pavilion, brought our community together to recognise the outstanding achievements of the 2025 recipients and welcome them into the esteemed Blues family.
Hosted by television presenter Alexander Circosta, the evening brought together students, alumni and friends of UWA Sport. Special guests included the Vice-Chancellor of The University of Western Australia Professor Amit Chakma, Director of Student Accommodation and Community Matt Lawley and UWA Sports Council President Taneesha Stallbaum.
The event highlighted the strong connection between generations of UWA athletes, with memorabilia on display to showcase the rich history and evolving legacy of the Blues tradition.
Blues have been awarded at UWA since 1921, recognising student athletes who demonstrate exceptional sporting performance and meaningful contributions to their UWA Affiliated Sports Clubs. As the highest sporting honour a UWA student can receive, the Blues Awards celebrate excellence, leadership and commitment to community.
This year, 44 athletes were formally welcomed into the Blues cohort by UWA Sports Council President Taneesha Stallbaum and UWA Sport General Manager Jake Wilkin, an impressive reflection of the depth and breadth of talent across our University.
The evening concluded with 'From Vision to Legacy: Sport at the Heart of UWA', a conversation between UWA alumni and Blues recipients Dr Ric Charlesworth AO and Philippa Morgan. Together, they shared insightful and entertaining reflections on how sport has shaped the UWA experience across decades.
