The University of Western Australia has a continual roll call of awards, scholarships and prizes presented to staff and students.
To recognise these achievements, an article is published on the UWA news page on the website and in UWA Forward on the first week of every month. If you know of great awards or achievements across the University please email [email protected]
Name: Curtis Rollins
Achievement: Dr Curtis Rollins, from UWA's School of Agriculture and Environment, was awarded the 2024 Best Post-Graduate Thesis Award by the Australasian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society. The award recognises the most outstanding post-graduate thesis in the field of agricultural and resource economics written by a student at an Australian or New Zealand university. His PhD thesis, Response anomalies in stated preference studies, focused on understanding cases where survey respondents violate the assumptions made by economists in choice experiment surveys and he proposed potential solutions.
Name: Law School
Achievement: The UWA Law School team participated in the 2025 Law Access Walk for Justice and raised $5,920. The annual walk raises money for Law Access, a vital organisation that matches some of Western Australia’s most vulnerable people with pro bono lawyers to access justice. To raise some of the money co-chairs of the team, Associate Professor Marilyn Bromberg and Blackstone Society's Hanna Kotzee and Gabby Miocevich organised a bake sale in mid-May, which included goods made by Law School staff. On May 20, hundreds of individuals from the WA legal community took part in the four kilometre walk along the Perth foreshore and raised $165,675 in total.
Congratulations UWA staff, alumni and students.
