The University of Western Australia has a continual roll call of awards, scholarships and prizes presented to staff and students.

Name: UWA Sport
Achievement: UWA Sport have been named a finalist for the Hyundai Sport Initiative of the Year Award for its LGBTQIA+ Allyship in Sport Program.  The LGBTQIA+ Allyship in Sport Program aims to influence and create safe, welcoming and inclusive sporting environments for the LGBTQIA+ community. The LGBTQIA+ Allyship in Sport Program supports UWA Sport affiliated clubs on their journey to improve LGBTQIA+ inclusive practices and provide training to a nominated Club Ally. The awards enable the West Australian community to recognise excellence in sport and celebrate the achievements of WA sportspeople.

Name: Minderoo OceanOmics Centre
Achievement:  The Minderoo OceanOmics Centre at UWA has achieved My Green Lab Certification, a globally recognised benchmark for laboratory sustainability. The OceanOmics Centre is the first laboratory in Western Australia to earn this certification.  The lab team implemented impactful initiatives across key areas, including waste management, energy efficiency, water conservation, cold storage optimisation, sustainable purchasing and community engagement. Notable improvements were made to reduce single use plastics destined for landfill and enhancing energy efficiency by adjusting ultra-low freezer temperatures.  With a score of 92 per cent, the OceanOmics Centre achieved the highest level of certification (Green Level). 

Name:  Wei Liu
Achievement: Associate Professor Wei Liu, from The University of Western Australia's School of Physics, Maths and Computing, has been appointed an inaugural member of the State Government’s Artificial Intelligence Advisory Board. The seven members bring AI expertise across a broad range of specialties including technical, legal, academic, cyber security, community engagement and governance. The new AI Board will advise Government on safe, secure and ethical use of AI across WA's public sector.
