Rotary Perth’s much-loved Vienna Pops New Year’s Eve Concert returns to The University of Western Australia this year with a world-class gala set to raise funds for two significant social and health initiatives.
WA community members are invited to join the special event, held in UWA’s iconic Winthrop Hall on December 31 each year as part of an ongoing partnership between UWA and Rotary Perth.
The concert will feature world-class musical talent, with proceeds from Perth Rotary’s largest fundraiser destined to support programs run by the Salvation Army for women and children affected by domestic violence, and the establishment of the Barry Marshall Research Institute for Infectious Diseases.
Rotary Perth’s centenary project is designed to honour WA’s own Nobel Laureate, Professor Barry Marshall AC, and advance research that protects community health.
Jill Dawson OAM, President of Perth Rotary, said the New Year’s Eve concert continued a longstanding collaboration between Rotary Perth and UWA, bringing community, culture and philanthropy together in a setting that reflected the shared values of both organisations.
“This year’s support for the planned Barry Marshall Research Institute for Infectious Diseases highlights the transformative power of philanthropy in supporting research that safeguards lives,” Mrs Dawson said.
“The Institute will honour the legacy of Professor Barry Marshall’s groundbreaking discovery of Helicobacter pylori while empowering new generations of researchers to tackle emerging infectious diseases.
“As a project it reflects Rotary Perth’s commitment to improving community wellbeing and advancing research with global reach.”
Under the direction of celebrated pianist and conductor Mark Coughlan, the Vienna Pops Orchestra will lead audiences through an evening of uplifting classics, humour and the signature midnight countdown.
The program will also feature acclaimed local sopranos Beth Redwood and Bella Marslen, both of whom have rapidly growing international profiles along with rising star, 15-year-old Audrey Jarvis.
Guests can choose between an afternoon matinee or the full gala experience that sees in the New Year with a magical finale. There are a limited number of VIP tickets available, which offer an all-inclusive evening of canapés, drinks, premium seating, and the opportunity to mingle with the conductor and other performers after the event.
Tickets range from $30 to $70 for the matinee and $80 to $155 for the evening gala, with VIP tickets including premium seating and pre and post-show receptions available at $250 directly through Rotary Perth (please email [email protected] for VIP Experience Tickets). Early booking is strongly recommended, as the event traditionally sells out.
