The distinct challenges faced by family-run businesses will come under the spotlight at a two-day virtual symposium hosted by The University of Western Australia next week.

Convenor Associate Professor Donella Caspersz, from UWA’s Business School, said with family enterprises making up 70 per cent of all businesses in Australia, and the most dominant form of business across the Asia Pacific, the event would be relevant for many small-to-medium businesses (SMEs).

“Family businesses face unique challenges linked to the forces of globalisation and technological developments, as well as political, regulatory, and economic fluctuations, which is particularly true post-COVID, ” Associate Professor Caspersz said.
