Name: Parwinder Kaur
Achievement: Associate Professor Parwinder Kaur, Director of DNA Zoo Australia, has been awarded Achiever of the Year at the INCITE Awards. The award celebrates individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the technology sector in Western Australia. It recognises Associate professor Kaur's: leadership and impact on the tech community; pioneering innovations and contributions to technology; dedication to mentoring and inspiring the next generation of tech leaders; significant achievements that have driven growth and excellence in WA's tech landscape.
Name: Rhonda Kerr
Achievement: Honorary Research Fellow Rhonda Kerr, from UWA’s School of Human Sciences, has been honoured with the prestigious 2024 Award for Outstanding Contribution by the Guidelines and Economists Network International. The award recognises her work in health economics, particularly in enhancing healthcare quality and cost-effectiveness. Dr Kerr’s expertise lies in identifying the specific physical spaces, information, communications technologies, medical equipment and resources required to deliver best practice clinical care in hospitals. With over 35 years of experience and involvement in 42 hospital projects, she has significantly contributed to the field of health service planning and health facility design. With her research establishing a strong link between capital investment in health services and clinical effectiveness, the honour provides her with a platform to advocate for better health service planning and evaluation in WA, to improve outcomes for both patients and clinicians.
Name: Vince Wallace
Achievement: Professor Vince Wallace, from UWA’s School of Physics, Maths and Computing, has been announced as the joint winner of the prestigious Barry Inglis Medal for sustained contributions to Australian Metrology, the National Measurement Institute’s highest honour. Professor Wallace was acknowledged for his work developing optical measuring equipment for the medical industry. This includes the development of new terahertz spectroscopy methods for pharmaceuticals, multiphoton microscopy for deep tissue imaging, and tools to measure tumour margins during surgery. The awards highlight the world-leading and world-changing measurement science happening inside Australian laboratories.

Achievement: Congratulations to Stephen Dymock, Clement Gille, Nathaniel Barry, Tamara Veselinovic, Mariana Mello dos Santos, Ryan Collison, Gavin Pikes, Amanda Quek, Guinevere Sellner, Alexander Lim, Jasmine King, Max Vickery, Amelia Birch and Sam Beard who are the winners of this year’s Convocation Postgraduate Research Travel Awards. The awards enable postgraduate research students to enhance and gain new perspectives on their work through travel in Australia or overseas. The awards are supported by generous donations from graduates, with assistance from the University Research Committee and the Postgraduate Students' Association.
