Head-to-head for 24 hours: UWA Boat Club crosses the line on campaign target

In May, the UWA men's and women's rowing teams went head-to-head for 24 hours of non-stop rowing, in a final effort to help UWA Boat Club reach its ambitious fundraising campaign target.

Launched in 2019, as part of the Club’s centenary celebrations, the UWA Boat Club Future Fund Campaign aimed to raise $1 million over 5 years to ensure the Club can remain a vital community hub and support rowers for generations to come. A number of other campaign events, including a gala dinner, multiple crowdfunding campaigns and a silent auction, have also harnessed the strong community-spirit that is so woven into every aspect of the Club.

The support reenergizes the Club's commitment to its mission of making rowing inclusive and accessible to all. Over the years, the Club has attracted more than 260 members, from novices to elite athletes, impacting the wider rowing community by sharing their passion through educating and introducing thousands of people to the sport of rowing.

While the Club previously had limited funds to draw on for larger items, the $1 million endowment will enable an upgrade of current equipment and facilities including a much-needed double scull, which will be instrumental in upcoming competitions and events.

Funds will also be allocated to recruit quality coaching services for all squads and ensure there is adequate representation at all levels. A full-time coach has already been appointed for the 2025 season.

The UWA Boat Club is grateful for the continued support and overwhelming generosity of all its donors, members and the wider rowing community. The future of the Boat Club and rowing at UWA is bright and exciting for those involved right now and for those who aspire to be part of the UWA Boat Club in future.
