Sunday 12 November saw the UWA Magpies, the UWA Baseball and Softball Club's women's baseball team, participate in the first Pride Round in the club's history.
Spearheaded by Ashleigh Hort of the Kalamunda Rangers, the event was highly successful, raising over $1,500 for the WA AIDS Council and providing education surrounding the LGBTQIA+ community.
Speaking on the success of the event, Stephanie O'Neill, the Vice President of Women's Baseball at the UWA Baseball and Softball Club said, "As a social and inclusive club we were excited to represent our community and champion Pride by taking part in the pride round. We are looking forward to building on the work from this year and leading a pride round in the 2024/25 season."
On the field, it was a successful game for the Magpies who defeated the Rangers with a score of 12-5.
Following 8 rounds of competition, the Magpies are currently third on the ladder. Their next match will be held this Sunday 3 December against the Kelmscott Bulldogs in Armadale.
