Listening to the universe through a Spacetime Simulator, seeing the back of your own eyeball and making electronic music through a ‘beat-maker’ are just some of the hands-on activities available to prospective students at The University of Western Australia’s Open Day on Sunday 12 March.

"Many of our academics will be at Open Day to speak with prospective students about their career ambitions."

The jam-packed event, which also features giveaways, a roving photobooth and chill-out zones, is designed to help future students find out more about their study and career goals while exploring campus life.

Attendees will be able to access hands-on activities, information sessions, campus tours and speak with UWA academics, graduates and current students.

UWA Director of Future Students Trish Rechichi said 2023 UWA Open Day had been designed to be both informative and immersive, showcasing the campus’s vibrancy, inclusivity and state-of-the-art facilities.

“If students are seeking to start their first university degree or take their career to the next level with a postgraduate degree, they can come to the event to explore the wide range of courses on offer, plus learn about entry pathways and our many scholarships,” Mrs Rechichi said.

“There’s a rich history of academic excellence at UWA and many of our academics will be at Open Day to speak with prospective students about their career ambitions.

“It’s also a really terrific vibe, with interactive sessions, live music and food trucks throughout the day.”

Mrs Rechichi said events would include a chemistry magic show, a world-class trading room demonstration at the Business and Commerce hub, a micro-plastics river sieving activity and performances by UWA Conservatorium of Music students. Players from the Western Force would also be making an appearance.

“People who register to come along have a chance to win prizes and most importantly to experience the vibrant educational environment of the UWA campus,” Mrs Rechichi said.
