UWA student athlete Jaide Britton has banked a successful debut for West Coast Eagles. The current UWA Bachelor of Arts student Jaide Britton contributed to the West Coast Eagles second win in the AFLW season 7 (S7).
In slippery conditions, Britton played her role to secure a seven-point victory at Giants Stadium over Greater Western Sydney – 2.4 (16) to 1.3 (9). The intensity and pressure of the youthful Eagles side was evident despite trailing by five points at the first change.
The damaging outside midfielder bolstered the emerging Eagles side with her injection onto the field. Britton’s display of speed and endurance broke open the game with her work rate and intensity over the ball. An exciting prospect of the 2022 AFLW Draft, Britton has effortlessly transitioned from a compelling preseason and onto the main stage with impressive debut statistics including 8 disposals, 5 kicks and 2 hand balls.
The bold ball movement aided with the impressive physical pressure saw the Eagles turn around the deficit with an eight-point lead at the half time break. The unsettled Giants were unable to find another gear to combat the territory battle won by the Eagles side. Britton’s high calibre run in the midfield added another layer to the Eagles with their ability to execute a clear ‘run and carry’ gameplay strategy. Eagles continued to present a strong defensive effort with ferocious tackling which allowed the Eagles to hold onto their lead and push their standings on the ladder.
The 19-year-old is one of many new and exciting prospects with her versatility and speed. The young gun will look to continue her impressive start to the season with a showdown game against Dockers on Thursday 22 September 2022.

I’ve been working really hard to make sure when this opportunity came I was ready for it and there’s nothing left on the table I need to do last minute.
