UWA Psychology student joins the prestigious list of twenty-three Western Australian Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Team Members to be bestowed the honour of the Australian Sports Medal at Government House in Perth. Courtney Bruce continues to impress on top of a stellar year winning the 2022 Suncorp Super Netball league with the West Coast Fever. Earlier this year, Bruce was able to overcome the bitter disappoint of the runners up at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games with a gold medal at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

The Australian Diamond received the Australian Sports Medal by the Western Australian Governor, the Honourable Chris Dawson APM, acknowledging the effort, determination and grit required to make the recent Commonwealth Games campaign successful. The Diamonds contributed gold to the outstanding 178 medals allowing the Australian team to top the overall medal table at the Birmingham Games. The West Coast Fever captain finds balance between her sport and study through the university's encouragement and flexibility. Bruce has acknowledged that the elite athlete program has been extremely helpful in providing support for the student athlete.
