On Thursday 12 May, UWA hosted students from ECU and Curtin University for the inaugural Western Series - International Student Challenge. Supported by StudyPerth and UniSport Australia, students from each university played against each other in table tennis, badminton and volleyball in a competition focused on forging cross-university connections and participation in sport among international students in WA.
However, winners did need to be chosen. Having entered two teams in the competition, UWA won the table tennis and badminton competitions, while ECU took home the voleyball trophy. However, their dominance across two of the three sports saw UWA claim the overall trophy.
The UWA Sport Inclusion team will be running further intervarsity Western Series competitions throughout the year, including the Western Series - Indigenous Games and Western Series - All Abilities Cup to be held later in the year.
