Name: Associate Professor Timothy Inglis
Achievement: Medical microbiologist Associate Professor Tim Inglis from the UWA Medical School will lead one of eight research projects to share $2.1 million in latest round of the State government's Research Translation Projects program. The program provides grants for short-term research projects in the areas of clinical, health services and public health research that demonstrate improved cost-effectiveness and efficiencies for the WA public health system while maintaining or improving patient outcomes. Associate Professor Inglis was awarded $269,961 for PROJECT AFTERMATH: State-wide preparedness for post-pandemic antibiotic resistance

UWA Little Athletics’ Zara O’Dea Image: UWA Little Athletics’ champion Zara O’Dea.

Name: Zara O’Dea

Achievement: UWA Little Athletics’ Zara O’Dea won gold for WA at the Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships. The 13-year-old St Hilda’s Anglican School student launched the javelin 39.17 metres to win, blitzing her nearest rival by almost two metres. Zara was one of 30 Under 13  athletes chosen to represent Western Australia at the national event at Melbourne’s Lakeside Stadium which was held for the first time in three years due to COVID restrictions.
