Members of UWA's University Basketball League (UBL) teams, the UWA Maali, have been presented with their playing jerseys in a ceremony held at Bilya Marlee on Tuesday morning.

The team received words of encouragement from UWA Sport General Manager Ian Fitzpatrick, as well as UWA Director of Student Life and UniSport Australia Chair Chris Massey. UWA Student and artist of the UWA Maali uniform, Aaron Sutton, then explained the significance of the design to the players, before Noongar Elder Barry Winmar led the group in a traditional Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony. 

The University Basketball League (UBL) is returning for its second season in 2022, with eleven teams from universities across Australia coming together for an 8-week series to determine the top basketball university in Australia. 

The Maali will commence their season on Tuesday 22 March with matches against the USC Spartans, held at the UWA Sport and Fitness Centre.
Unfortunately, current COVID-19 restrictions prohibit spectators from attending Maali home games, however you can still stream all the action live on Cluch. We look forward to welcoming supporters when it is safe to do so.
