UWA Tennis Club coach Matthew Ebden made it to the Australian Open Doubles Final alongside Max Purcell, taking on Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis for the title. 

It has been a long and competitive journey for the pair throughout the tournament, defeating Jonathan Erlich and André Göransson in the first round, before defeating four seeded teams in a row to reach the all-Australian final. 

Unfortunately, Ebden and Purcell were beaten in straight sets by Kyrgios and Kokkinakis,however remained proud of their accomplishments.

This was Ebden's first Grand Slam final, and the pair's first ever final as a duo in their second tournament together.
