The University of Western Australia has a continual roll call of awards, scholarships and prizes presented to staff and students.

Name: Anna Waterreus
Achievement: Dr Anna Waterreus, from UWA’s School of Population and Global Health, has received an Emerging Leaders Fellowship (up to $390,444) from the WA Department of Health for her project Longitudinal mental and physical health outcomes in people with psychotic disorders: Identifying enablers and barriers to recovery. The funding was awarded to 20 early and mid-career researchers under the WA Near Miss Awards: Emerging Leaders 2021 Program.
Name: Jen-Ping Peng
Achievement: Oceans Graduate School research associate Jen-Ping Peng has received the Excellent Refereeing Award from the American Geophysical Union Publications. The award recognises outstanding work in 2021 in peer reviewing, which the organisation says is crucial for advancing science and helping to ensure scientific integrity. He is one of just three people in Australia to have received the award.
Name: Julia Kay
Achievement: UWA School of Design Master of Architecture alumni and impact start-up founder Julia Kay (BEnvDes ’14, March ’16) has been chosen as Young Victorian of the Year by the Victoria Day Council. Mrs Kay is the co-founder of Great Wrap, a compostable stretch wrap made from food waste. She has been advocating for women in business, advanced manufacturing and the circular economy since 2019 and said the recognition was a win for all women in business.
Name: UWA Law School academics
Achievement: Four UWA Law School academics were recognised at the 2022 Australasian Law Academics Association conference in Melbourne. Recipients of the awards included: Associate Professor Kate Offer, Excellence in Teaching; Liz Mansveld, Excellence in Teaching (Sessional); Penny Carruthers, Outstanding Career Achievement; and Lauren Butterly, PhD Research Award.
Name: Alicia Rayner
Achievement: Lecturer Alicia Rayner of the WA Centre for Rural Health (WACRH) of UWA has officially conferred to be awarded a Fellowship by the Australian College of Physiotherapists. Ms Rayner is a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist based in Carnamah and works part time at WACRH in Geraldton. Dr Ivan Lin and Ms Rayner, both from WACRH, officially received their fellowship awards in Perth on 28 July. The Fellowship make Ms Rayner one of only two Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists north of Perth, with the first being Dr Lin.
Name: Rachael Liu
Achievement: Bachelor of Music and Diploma of Modern Languages student Rachael Liu is one of three finalists in the prestigious VOSE Concerto Competition. Rachael is completing honours at the UWA Conservatorium, learning voice from Sara Macliver, and has performed in various ensembles since starting at UWA including The Winthrop Singers and UWA Con-Cantorum. The VOSE Concerto finals will be held at the Perth Concert Hall, accompanied by a full orchestra, later this year.
