Following the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic for the past two years, the 2022 UWA Sports Council is squarely focused on recovery and getting back on track.
Aiming to provide opportunities for students to be involved in governance within the UWA sporting community, the UWA Sports Council comprises 31 student representatives from each of the 30 UWA-affiliated clubs.
In 2022, the President of the UWA Sports Council is Varad Mukhedkar of the UWA Ultimate Club. The role of the President is to support Sports Council representatives in their roles, and to act act as a voice for the student opinion to UWA Sport and to other University bodies.
“I am thoroughly looking forward to stepping into the role of President of the UWA Sports Council for 2022,” said Varad.
“There is so much we can achieve moving forward as a council, in particular boosting studnet participation within our sporting clubs, and reigniting the connectivity of the sporting community following the COVID-19 pandemic.”
"2022 will truly be an exciting and jam-packed year for UWA Sport, with the recommencement of the UniSport Nationals competitions including the Maali's campaign in the University Basketball League (UBL)."
UWA Triathlon Club representative Jonney Sammut will assume the role of secretary.
UWA Underwater Club representative Abi Harwood will assume the role of treasurer.
