In recognition of his passion, vision and philanthropic support for a range of charitable causes, academic prizes and scholarships – including many related to the health and wellbeing of Western Australian children – the UWA Business School has named a lecture theatre in honour of Stan Perron AC.
Renowned for his commitment to ethical business practice and philanthropy, over his lifetime, Stan Perron built Perron Group - one of Australia’s most successful private companies. Growing up in the depression-era Goldfields of Western Australia, Mr Perron is the epitome of a rags-to-riches story.
“Driven by an enduring belief that those who do well in life should give for the benefit of the disadvantaged, Mr Perron’s commitment to philanthropy began with his involvement in the Rotary movement, where he was frequently known to bolster the fundraising efforts of his local club with substantial personal donations ”
In order to further his vision to help others, he established one of the first Western Australian foundations of its kind in 1978. Since then, the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation has assisted many hundreds of causes, individuals and organisations in Western Australia with a special focus on improving the health and wellbeing of children and the disadvantaged.
Sadly, Stan Perron AC passed away in November 2018.
The Foundation is now chaired by Mr Perron’s daughter, Elizabeth and its recent activities have included significant investment in the National Imaging Facility WA node – addressing the current lack of dedicated human research imaging infrastructure in WA. It has also extended its support to greatly enhancing paediatric expertise and outcomes for patients as well as innovative projects across education and policy, biomedical research and rural medicine.
For many years, the Foundation has supported UWA Business School students through a number of prizes and scholarships, encouraging and assisting them to achieve their full potential and become the leaders of tomorrow.
The UWA Business School holds Stan Perron’s values and commitment to teaching business ethics in the highest regard. These values will continue to be taught and form part of a framework when teaching the next generation of business leaders at UWA.

To mark the naming of the Stan Perron AC Lecture Theatre, a small celebration event was held with representatives of the Foundation, members of the Perron family, UWA Vice-Chancellor Professor Amit Chakma, and a number of UWA Business School students and staff.
