A science and health graduate from The University of Western Australia who is passionate about combining academia and music has been selected to appear on the 2021 season of The Voice Australia.

Michael Kay, 25, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Public Health, said participating in the singing competition was a great opportunity to spend time with others who were passionate about music.

“Getting to meet other artists, sing on stage and do what I love on national television was such an amazing experience,” Mr Kay said.

During his time at UWA, Mr Kay was President of the UWA Student Guild Multicultural Students Union, President of the Societies Council and Guild Secretary.

“I love studying, which is probably why I’ve done so much and why I keep doing more, but music gives me a new refreshment.

“I always found myself performing at University events because of my involvement in clubs, and once I realised I could create music and sing, I decided to pursue both my passions.”
