The University of Western Australia has a continual roll call of awards, scholarships and prizes presented to staff and students.

Name: Dr Omar Kujan, UWA Dental School
Achievement: Dr Kujan, who specialises in oral and maxillofacial surgery, has been chosen as one of 66 leading researchers health and medical science researchers by The Australian. The field leaders list includes researchers with the highest number of citations from the top 20 journals in their field.
Name: Jay Jay Jegathesan, UWA Graduate Research School
Achievement: Mr Jegathesan has been awarded a bronze medal at the global finals of the World Monologue Games for the category of Professional Endurance. He was awarded the medal for his performances ‘Soul Catcher’ and ‘TAJ’ at the inaugural event.
Name: Professor Michael McLure, UWA Business School
Achievement: Professor McLure has been awarded the Galileo Galilei Prize for the History of Italian Economy. The prize, awarded by the International Galileo Galilei Prize Foundation of the Italian Rotary Clubs, acknowledges significant research from a scholar outside Italy.
Name: Jan-Willem van Staden and Professor Fiona Haslam McKenzie, UWA Department of Geography and Planning
Achievement: PhD student Jan-Willem van Staden and Professor Fiona Haslam McKenzie have been awarded the 2019 Wiley Award for Best Paper in Geographical Research. The paper, on Western Australia's Royalties for Regions program, was described as an excellent example of forensic economic geography that provided important lessons learnt for the regions.
Name: Callan Kneale, UWA School of Design
Achievement: UWA student Callan was awarded the ‘Colour Honourable Mention’ for his Chroic Side Table in the recent VIVID 2020 design awards. School of Design students Denis Wittwer and Monroe Masa were also finalists in the ‘Object’ and ‘Concept’ categories for their projects ‘Flower Tower’ and ‘Table 2 of Collection 2’.
Name: Elham Eshraghian-Haakansson, UWA School of Design
Achievement: UWA Master of Fine Arts student Elham has been awarded the $20,000 overall prize in the 2020 Joondalup Invitation Art Award – one of Western Australia’s most prestigious awards for contemporary art – for her film work ‘face to face’.
