Karina Price, from UWA's ARC Centre for Plant Energy Biology, has been awarded a Women in Technology WA award.

The University of Western Australia has a continual roll call of awards, scholarships and prizes presented to staff and students.

Name: AdjunctProfessor Patrick Beale, UWA School of Design
Achievement:Adjunct Professor Patrick Beale, Director of Advanced Timber Concepts Studio, received a Commendation for Sustainable Architecture in the 2020 National Architecture Awards. His design for Pingelly Recreation and Cultural Centre used innovative sustainable timber design solutions for low environmental impact and high aesthetic value. 

Name: Karina Price, UWA Centre for Plant Energy Biology
Achievement:UWA staff member and science communicator, Karina Price was awarded a Women in Technology WA (WITWA) 2020 Tech Awards for her role engaging people in science and STEM. Karina founded the Virtual Plant Cell, an immersive experience that connect audiences with plant science and its applications to real world challenges.

Name: Dr Nerida Wilson, UWA School of Biological Sciences and WA Museum
Achievement: Adjunct Professor Dr Wilson was awarded a Women in Technology WA (WITWA) 2020 Tech Award for her efforts to improve inclusivity and diversity in science. She is a marine molecular biologist and has four species named after her.

Name: Dr Yael Perry, UWA Centre for Child Health Research, Telethon Kids Institute
Achievement: Adjunct Research Fellow Dr Perry was awarded a Women in Technology WA (WITWA) 2020 Tech Award for her for innovative applications of IT to benefit research. She works closely with digital innovators worldwide and is currently leading several digital health projects aimed at improving the mental health of LGBTIQA+ young people.
