UWA Career Mentor Link
The largest and longest running higher-education industry mentoring program in Australia. Learn what’s required from you, as a mentee, and how to apply.

What's involved?
Being a mentee allows you to access 'real world' insights from an industry professional interested in your career.
The mentoring relationship will focus on identifying your career goals and developing your job-seeking skills. They are not work experience or paid employment programs.

Student responsibilities
- Complete the Mentoring Agreement in conjunction with the mentor
- Agree on a regular, mutually convenient contact schedule
- Advise mentor if unable to attend scheduled meetings
- Observe confidentiality and personal / professional boundaries
- Be receptive to feedback and suggestions from the mentor
- Explore own strengths and weaknesses and set relevant goals
- Fulfil commitments as agreed or negotiate changes
- Complete and submit program reports and evaluations by due dates
- Take up opportunities for networking and building professional relationships
- Contact the Career Mentor Link coordinator if any concerns arise.

How to apply
Career Mentor Link program will be running from May to October 2021.
Expressions of interest for mentees open on Monday 1 March 2021. The cost to participate as a mentee in the program is $20.
To be eligible to take part in Career Mentor Link, undergraduates must have achieved at least 48 credit points of study (equivalent to one full-time year). Postgraduates students must be enrolled at UWA. The program is open to international and domestic students.
Gaining work experience
Employers often prefer to hire people with previous experience as this reinforces their capability. We understand the importance of applying theoretical knowledge and that’s why all UWA degrees include hands-on experience. Beyond this, UWA gives you the tools to find internships and work experience programs that will help catch the eye of prospective employers.
Internships through the McCusker Centre for Citizenship
The McCusker Centre for Citizenship seeks to foster caring, connected and socially engaged citizens who actively contribute to the wellbeing of their communities. The McCusker Centre for Citizenship at UWA partners with more than 300 not-for-profit, community, and government organisations to provide quality, structured internships for credit for students at UWA.

Whatever degree you pursue, there is a range of discipline-specific or elective Work Integrated Learning units to choose from on both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
