As soon as you get started at UWA, we encourage you to build your employability. At this stage, we have opportunities for you to explore what your future could look like, be mentored and learn from industry experts and gain real-world experience to road-test your potential career.

Here’s a checklist to help you get started:

Start your Career Action Plan

You can start the EMPLOY101 modules — Self-Awareness and Career Action Plan, as soon as you enrol at UWA. You can also seek help from our Career Advisers by going to our drop-in service or booking an appointment.

Design your study plan

UWA has a lot on offer so we encourage you to touch base with your Student Office to ensure that you align your study plan with your career goals, have space to accommodate Work Integrated Learning units, practicums, field trips and even study abroad.

UWA Career and Employability Award

The UWA Career and Employability Award is a great way to start building your employability skills. The Award is a self-paced step-by-step program where you’ll gain practical, real world experience, skills and knowledge to enhance your employability. Upon completion, the Award will be recognised on your co-curricular transcript.

Join a UWA student club and society

Joining a student club and society is a great way to build your employability skills while having fun doing it.... and with us there are more options than any other university in WA.

Clubs and societies give you the opportunity to further develop transferrable skills such as leadership, time management and teamwork
Unlock new networking opportunities with individuals who share similar interests or passions
Better demonstrate who you are on your résumé — it's also a great conversation starter for job interviews!
