- helping you with complex matters regarding special consideration, credit transfer, approved leave, academic progression, graduation eligibility and other requests
The Arts and Law Student Advising Office is located in the Social Sciences North Building (Old Economics Building) in the foyer entry off carpark 3.
Visit us during our office hours, Monday - Thursday 9.30am - 4.30pm, Friday 10am - 4.30pm, and closed Tuesday between 12- 1pm.

Indigenous Studies
Knowing Country: The Dreaming and Darwin
Embark upon a journey across space and time to examine the relationship between human beings and the environment. Examining both Indigenous perspectives and the science of natural history, you’ll explore philosophy, techniques and scientific rationale. The unit comprises a short lecture series and interactive field work in Albany.
Politics
WA Parliamentary Research Program
This program offers research internships through the WA Parliament. You’ll complete a research project that will benefit the state, while building your knowledge and skills. Available to high-performing third-year students from any major, students are put forward to the WA Parliament using a selection process that may include a written expression of interest, interview, academic standing, topic selection, and consideration of the program guidelines. Arts Union
Representing students in a Bachelor of Arts, the Arts Union offers support in areas of education, social affairs, professional development and welfare, and hosts social, educational, sports and career events throughout the year.
UWA Politics Club
Interested in current affairs and keen to learn more about political issues? The UWA Politics Club holds a range of events throughout the year, including debates, panel discussions, quiz nights, lectures and more, often with high-profile experts in attendance.
UWA Music Students’ Society
If you’re studying a music unit, join the Music Students’ Society to gain free entry to the year-long concert series, discounted entry to education and social events, and attend the annual ball.
Learn a language
Enhance your learning and employability by studying one of eight languages on offer. Select Chinese (Mandarin), Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, French, Italian, German or Spanish. UWA's unique Bachelor of Modern Languages allows you to study two languages in depth, with study abroad and exchange programs on offer. Studying units overseas allows you to fully immerse yourself in your chosen language, gain first-hand experience of another culture, and meet new people. Internships
Make the most of your time at UWA by completing an internship as part of your course. Opportunities are available throughout the year for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. There are internship opportunities to suit everyone, and plenty of ways to get involved. The McCusker Centre for Citizenship helps make a social impact by linking you with not-for-profit organisations. With placement opportunities around the world, you’ll develop invaluable workplace skills and global experience to prepare you for your future career.
Arts Employability Award
Open to all UWA students studying an Arts major, the Arts Employability Award is a short online course of modules launching in 2025! Specifically tailored for Arts students early in their studies, the modules will help you:
- Identify attributes associated with Arts students
- Learn about the transferable skills you will develop studying an Arts major; and
- Research career pathways available as an Arts graduate.
Completing the Arts Employability Award provides students with:
- A certificate of completion
- A resume profile
- Preparation for internship applications
