Histology
Full service histology research and teaching facility
UWA’s Histology Laboratory produces high-quality work for teaching and research purposes within UWA departments and the general scientific community. It provides a wide range of cutting-edge services, including light and electron microscopy processing and cryostat sectioning.
The laboratory's extensive capabilities include:
- Biological material acquisition and preparation
- LM and TEM processing of cells and tissues to wax or resin
- Microtomy
- Staining, including immunohistochemical staining and special stains for detection of various cellular components (an auto stainer and autocoverslipper are available for high-volume projects)
- Cryostat sectioning
- Access to human tissue
- Specialist histological expertise is available in areas such as large and thick sectioning, including bone sectioning and the provision of human tissue sections
- Antigen-retrieval
The Histology Laboratory provides self-service and full-service processing, sectioning and staining. Its services are available to staff, students and external clients. For additional information, quotes or specific requests, contact the laboratory directly.
