Mental Health Week 2021

The theme for Mental Health Week 2021 in Western Australia is: Mental health starts with our children.  

In 2021, UWA is proud to again be supporting the Western Australian Association for Mental Health and Mental Health Week WA (9-16 October) with the support of John Curtin College of the Arts and the Spirit of the Streets Choir.

We aim to promote the importance of relationships and community. Together we can improve our mental health and that of those around us. All generations play a role, and there is a place for peers and elders to extend their love and warmth.

Music is a powerful tool that brings people together. All over this great state and country, community music groups thrive. We’d love to encourage everyone, all over the world, to connect and build friendships through music. Check out community choirs, bands, community music making and appreciation groups to form friendships and support one another.

Bill Withers’ Lovely Day was chosen as a means of reminding young people of the importance of appreciating the little things in life. We had so much fun making this video clip, and if you enjoy watching it half as much, you will have a great time. When all generations come together, new friendships are found.
