Go rural in 2026

12/05/2025 | 2 mins

Applications are now open for the Rural Clinical School of WA (RCSWA) 2026 Penultimate Year Program.

Prospective students can choose to train at one of 15 rural sites between Kununurra and Esperance and make life-long connections to people and place.

Students can choose to live in rent-free RCSWA housing or they can accept a bursary and arrange their own accommodation. Students placed from Karratha north may receive a bursary payment of $7,000 at the start of the year, and those placed from Geraldton south may receive $6,000 at the start of the year. Students receive $1,000 at the end of the year to assist with expenses.

RCSWA warmly welcomes students with partners and/or families in tow. Our 140-strong team of medical educators and administrators around the State will provide guidance and support to students before, during, and after placement.

Apply via forms.rcswa.edu.au by 5pm, Friday 23 May 2025. All prospective students will be notified by Thursday 31 July 2025 if they are successful or not.

For further information about the program and rural sites, see our website or contact RCSWA Academic Coordinator – Penultimate and Final Year Programs, Associate Professor Kirsty Freeman, via [email protected]
