High School Program

The Rural Clinical School of Western Australia aims to encourage and mentor regional and rural high school students who wish to study medicine or allied health professions at university.

RCSWA is a joint venture between the University of Western Australia, Notre Dame Australia and Curtin University. Our school also works collaboratively with Edith Cowan University Bunbury and the WA Country Health Service.

How can we help?

  • We have experienced staff in rural towns throughout the state who can chat to you about studying medicine. We also have medical students completing their final two years of study rurally who are happy to share their experiences so far.
  • We run free hands-on workshops called Club Medicine that connect high school students with doctors and health professionals. Parents are welcome too!
  • We can assist you to complete your TISC form and provide all the information you need for university entry to medicine, including interview tips.
  • We can show you different pathways should you not receive a first offer.
  • We can introduce you to other country students interested in medicine so that you have a supportive network when you begin university.
  • We can provide training and networking opportunities throughout your medical career.

Meet Emma Cooper

"Hi! I’m your one-stop-shop for information and advice on your future career in medicine. I live in Bunbury and have two children, one currently at university.

I’m passionate about getting country kids into medicine and supporting them through their journey. I believe that dreams are worth fighting for and sometimes we need to find different ways to fulfill them.

Come along to our FREE Club Medicine workshops held in regional WA towns throughout the year and chat to a variety of doctors and health professionals about their career paths. You can also get hands-on at several skills stations. Parents are welcome too.

Visit clubmedicine.eventbrite.com to see up-coming events and to register. For further information, contact me [email protected]"
