Name: Kathryn Fitzgerald
Achievement: UWA Centre for Rural Health (WACRH) Geraldton Senior Lecturer Kathryn Fitzgerald was joint winner of the Rural Researcher or Educator category at the annual WA Rural Health Excellence Awards. “Having the contributions of the WACRH education program recognised through this State-wide award from Rural Health West and the WA Country Health service was a great honour,” Ms Fitzgerald said. “The education program delivered at WACRH ensures two critical workforce groups, Allied Health and Nursing, are capable and confident to work in rural and remote areas. We design innovative allied health and nursing placements to increase clinical placement length, so students can spend longer learning in and from our rural and remote communities. Our semester and year-long speech pathology placements are unique in Australia and we’re proud to see many of our past students now working in the regions."

Name: Katina Law
Achievement: Director, entrepreneur and SIS alumni Katina Law is one of six First Nations women inducted into the Western Australian Women's Hall of Fame in 2023. Raised in Derby from Worora and Walmajarri families, Ms Law has over 30 years international experience in financial and general management roles. She is the first Indigenous woman to be a CEO and Chair of an ASX listed company. She has also co-founded several businesses, including the award winning IPS Management Consultants and Dutjahn Sandalwood Oils. Ms Law is committed to helping Indigenous business people grow their influence in Australia’s economy.
