Chemical Engineering research showcased at annual competition

The 2021 WA Joint Chemical Engineering Committee Postgraduate Research Competition took place at EZONE UWA on November 16. 

Held annually, IChemE-EA is a showcase of the best in Chemical Engineering research from WA Universities.

In this event, four entrants from The University of Western Australia, Curtin University, Edith Cowan University and Murdoch University presented their research across a wide range of Chemical Engineering applications.

ECU was represented by Mr Abdul Hannan Asif with his research the Removal of chemical from wastewater using shape-controlled structures of Hematite.

Murdoch was represented by Mrs Kethaki Wickramaarachchi with Electrolytic manganese dioxide/activated carbon hybrid capacitor for energy storage.

Mr Mirhadi Seyyedsadaghiani, from UWA, showcased his research Development of novel eco-friendly refrigerants.

Ms Maria Sofia Hazarabedian, from Curtin, presented her research Identification and remediation of cracking in alloy 725 for oil & gas exploration and production.

Our congratulations go to Ms Hazarabedian who was announced the winner of the 2021 Postgraduate Research Competition.

We also congratulate all the entrants for their efforts and showcasing their excellent research results.

The panel of three judges was comprised of James Shorthouse, Jim Selby and Bronwyn Brookman Smith of the WA Joint Chemical Engineering Committee.
