Strong results in QS Rankings

The University of Western Australia achieved outstanding results in the 2020 QS World University Rankings by Subject Area, maintaining its top ranking in the State with the highest number of subjects ranked in the top 100 globally. The QS Rankings ranked 1,368 universities globally.

In the rankings, Engineering – Mineral and Mining at UWA is ranked at number three globally, Sports-related Studies at 20, Anatomy and Physiology at 23, Earth and Marine Science at 29, Engineering – Civil and Structural at 30 and Agriculture and Forestry at 45. The University is in the world’s top 100 for eight additional subjects.

UWA Vice-Chancellor Professor Dawn Freshwater said she was delighted by the rankings.

“I am thrilled by these strong results. They demonstrate the University’s successful commitment to providing world-class, cutting-edge research, teaching and learning,” Professor Freshwater said.

“Advances in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine are vital to the future of our planet and its people.

“The future prosperity and welfare of our state is dependent on world-leading research and advances in technology. I am proud of our strengths in these areas, and especially pleased by the number of areas in which we have risen even higher in the strongly contested world of international education.”

This year, the 2020 QS World University Rankings by Subject Area covered 48 disciplines across five broad subject areas: Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences and Medicine, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Management.
