Roles and responsibilities
Television directors take final responsibility for making sure that television programs are ready for production. This can involve the director studying scripts to determine artistic interpretation, planning and arranging for set designs, costumes, sound effects and lighting along with selecting actors for roles in the production by viewing performances and conducting screen tests and auditions.
Directors may also plan, direct and coordinate filming or taping, instruct camera operators on the position and the angle of their shots and coordinate changes in lighting and sound.
Stage directors coordinate the activities of the stage crew, performers and technicians during rehearsals and productions.
