Thesis: The Role of Trait Perfectionism, Motivation Regulation, and Self-Presentation Processes in Exercise

Research identifying the mechanisms by which perfectionism influences exercise behaviour has largely been neglected. One possible mechanism is motivational. Accordingly, the thesis research aims at examining the association between maladaptive and adaptive perfectionism styles, motivation regulation and self-presentation concerns in exercise.

Why my research is important

The research aims to provide explanatory support for the theoretical distinction between negative (maladaptive) perfectionism and positive (adaptive) perfectionism and target aspects of perfectionism that may play a key role in the formation of healthy and unhealthy types of exercise behaviour.
