Thesis: Denervation in Sarcopenia
The reasons for sarcopenia are unclear. Loss of myofibre innervation (denervation) in aged muscle is supported by myofibre loss, myofibre type grouping and co-expression of more than one myosin isoform in very old muscles.
Why my research is important
While sarcopenia is widely studied in rats, the role of proper innervation has barely been studied in geriatric mice.
