National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology.
Running each year in August, it features approximately 1500 events around Australia, including those delivered by universities, research organisations, schools, museums, libraries and science centres.
National Science Week is Australia’s largest national festival, involving over one million event participants across the nation, with another 160 000 taking part in school activities.
National Science Week is proudly supported by the Australian Government in a variety of ways, including the provision of up to $500 000 for the National Science Week Grants Program. Other partners include CSIRO, the ABC and the Australian Science Teachers Association (ASTA).
National Science Week provides an opportunity to acknowledge Australian scientists’ contributions to the world of knowledge, encouraging interest in science pursuits and getting younger people fascinated by the world in which we live.
Now more than 20 years old, National Science Week continues to expand and attract a wide audience from children to adults, and science amateurs to professionals.
Be sure to save the date and keep an eye on our events page for updates on the UWA events happening across the week.
