UWA Science Competition

Challenges Facing the World

This competition is proudly brought to you by the Faculty of Science. It is for any student who is interested in the impact that science has on the world.

Your challenge, as a team, is to identify and present on a contemporary topic that interests you; something you predict will be a global issue to face humanity by 2040. Winning team(s) will win $3000 and a unique networking opportunity, such as a meeting with a high-profile scientist.

There are three parts to this program:

  1. Panel discussions about global issues, where the panellists are high profile scientists from varied disciplines and professions. You ask the questions, so you can use this to gain valuable insight as you form your topic for the competition.

Self-form into teams of 3-4 for the competition which consists of parts 2 and 3:
  1. Science Fair: Create an interactive display to communicate your topic to passers-by.
  2. Video: Create a 2 minute video about your topic of interest.
