Despite the significant progress made over the last two decades, more than 1 billion people around the world still go hungry, every day.

The key issue: More people, less land for food production

Hunger and malnutrition are the number 1 risk to health worldwide - greater than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined, according to the World Food Program.

What UWA is doing about this global issue

Achieving food security and sustainability for all is at the heart of our agricultural research. We’re improving productivity and adapting agriculture for our changing climate by harnessing everything from cutting-edge DNA technologies, to cell biology research and biotechnology.
