PROFILE
Professor Yuxia Hu
Started at UWA: 2008
Recognised leader in innovative soil research
The world of geo-materials fascinates me, and with the huge array of soil and rocks differing dramatically around the world, it makes for extremely interesting research projects.Professor Yuxia Hu
Professor of Geotechnical Engineering Yuxia Hu uses revolutionary numerical methods and innovative model test techniques to solve soil-foundation interaction problems. Through her research, Professor Hu aims to discover all types of soil-foundation interactions to uncover soil behaviours during foundation intrusion.
Professor Hu has nearly 20 years of research and teaching experience in geotechnical engineering, especially in offshore geomechanics. She has led many research projects involving offshore soil-foundation interactions, such as anchors, caissons and spudcans, improving global guidelines for offshore foundation designs.
Professor Hu is an active researcher on pavement design with local industry, working closely with local engineers and government agencies. These research results can be applied directly to local conditions of soils and climate.
