Synthetic biology tools for biosynthesis of small molecules

I was awarded an ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Awards (DECRA) in 2013. In 2015, I joined the School of Molecular Sciences at UWA to start a new research group. My research interests are on the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites in fungi and to uncover their bio-ecological roles using a combination of functional genomics, synthetic biology and chemical ecology.

Geological evolution of the Mungari area of the Kundana gold camp
The objective of this project is to assess the controls over the gold system that produced the Mungari deposits and broader Kundana camp. This knowledge will aid with mine development and near-mine exploration in addition to regional targeting and delineation of further resources

Aquifers as climate logs - untangling replenishment mechanisms
This project will develop methods that use environmental tracers to provide detailed information about groundwater ages and relate the age structure of groundwater systems to past climatic conditions. The project will generate methods for assessing the past history of groundwater resources, and provide insight into the viability of groundwater in the future. This will improve our understanding of how groundwater resources will behave under a changing climate.
Fisheries ecology and oceanography to inform management of the western rock lobster
This UWA research project is proposed to repeat sampling conducted in the region during late 1980's in the region and investigate linkages to rock lobster life-history dynamics and productivity.
