Cocos (Keeling) Island

This 7-day expedition to the Cocos (Keeling) Islands reviewed the complex problem of plastic debris washing ashore in the area. The researchers surveyed over 15km of coastline across four islands to pinpoint plastic hotspots.

These surveys helped inform innovative ways of collecting beach plastics, and how they could be recycled to create a community resource.
