- Biography
- Michael Stacey is a vascular surgeon and Winthrop Professor of Vascular Surgery within the School of Surgery at The University of Western Australia. He is based at Fremantle Hospital where he oversees a multidisciplinary team providing clinical care, teaching research.
W/Prof Stacey has served a term as Head of School and remains heavily involved in the teaching of undergraduate medical students on surgical rotations. He has supervised postgraduate research students and continues to be involved in the education of Surgical Trainees.
W/Prof Stacey has a long-standing research interest in wound healing and venous ulceration. His research group conducts research ranging from laboratory evaluations of the mechanisms for delayed healing in chronic wounds through to the clinical evaluation of new therapies.
W/Prof Stacey has been actively involved in national and international wound-healing societies, and was the founding president of the Australian Wound Management Association and the inaugural chair of the World Union of Wound Healing Societies. He is also a member of the International Wound Bed Preparation Advisory Board.
